Singles Sweeper
The Howie Kolhoff Singles Sweeper will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Eastway Bowl in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Over 150 bowler entries accepted for the 2024 event. A wait list will be created for entries over the maximum allowed.
ONLINE Registrations will be accepted until maximum number of paid entries are received or until 12:00pm Friday, February 23.
Walk in's are welcome as long as space allows.

The Howie Kolhoff Singles Sweeper is open to all USBC Sanctioned youth bowlers 10 years of age by August 1, 2023.

Two divisions are offered -
-
Scratch - 190 average and above
-
Handicap - 189 average and below
-
Bowlers with averages below 190 may select to bowl scratch.

8:00am - check in starts at 7:15am (limited to 96 bowlers)

12:00pm - check in starts at 11:15pm (limited to 96 bowlers)

Entry Fee is due at the time of registration. Entry fee for registrations submitted on/before Monday, February 19 will be $60.00. A minimal processing fee has been included in the amount due. Registrations submitted after Monday, February 19 will incur a $70.00 entry fee. Walk in entry fee is $70.00.

Walk in registrations will be accepted for both qualifying shifts starting at 7:15am.

A waitlist for be offered for bowlers unable to register for either qualifying shift. All waitlist bowlers must be present 1 hour prior to the start of the requested qualifying shift. Open positions for each qualifying shift will be offered first come first serve.

Bowlers may participate one time in each qualifying shift. Registration and entry fee are required for each qualifying shift. Bowlers may pre-register online for both qualifying shifts, or register day of event if space allows. (Bowlers participating in both qualifying shifts - only their highest qualifying series will be considered, their lowest qualifying series will be discarded.)

Bowlers pre-registered for both qualifying shifts may choose the day of the event to withdraw from the 12pm shift if they wish. IF a replacement bowler is available to fill the vacant position full refund will be given. IF a replacement is not available, refund equal to half of the entry fee will be issued. All refunds will be processed within 48 hours from the completion of the event by initiating a credit to the original form of payment.

All request to withdraw from the 12pm qualifying shift must be communicated to the tournament staff a minimum of 45 minutes prior to the start of the second qualifying shift.

Registered bowlers who are unable to attend must contact the tournament director at (email) prior to event. Refund requests will be evaluated on an individual basis. Deadline for refund requests is Friday, February 23, 12pm CT.

Bowlers are encouraged to wear bowling jersey like shirt and dress pants and/or skirts. Denim with holes or excessive wear, leggings, sweatpants, hats and attire with offensive language/images are not allowed.

Use average from 2022-2023 season unless current season average is 10 pins higher (as of February 1, 2024). If no average from 2022-2023 season, use current average based on 9 or more games bowled. It is the responsibility of the entrant to report any discrepancies in the reported average.

All bowler averages must be confirmed. Bowlers without confirmed averages will bowl in scratch division.

Handicap bowlers will be awarded handicap based on confirmed average at 70% of 200. Maximum handicap allowed - 49 pins.

Bowlers may be re-rated at the Tournament Directors discretion. Any such adjustment must take place prior to qualifying. Bowlers that do not agree with adjusted average may request a refund.
Code of Conduct -

Cell phones/Headphones/AirPods: the use of electronics is prohibited during gameplay.

Unsportsmanlike Behavior: this behavior will not be tolerated on the lanes or inside the tournament venue. Individuals are subject to ejection for engaging in improper tactics or conducting, including, but not limited to physical and verbal abuse toward other persons. ANY taunting by bowlers, coaches or spectators will not be tolerated and will result in immediate expulsion from the event.

Profanity: No profanity is allowed on or off the lanes.

No outside food or beverage will be allowed. Food specials will be available through the Eastway Lounge. Meal tickets can be purchased at the Front Desk during each qualifying shift. Refillable beverage containers with lids are allowed and encouraged for all bowlers.

Alcohol: No alcohol is allowed during the competition.

ONLY BOWLERS AND TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BOWLING AREA.
Tournament Play -
-
Doors open at 7:00am. Please do not enter building prior to 7:00am.

Check in will start 45 minutes prior to shift start time. Ensure proof of school attendance is available at check in if not previously provided.

Bowlers registered for both qualifying shifts must be available at the appropriate time and complete the check in process for both shifts.

Modified challenge pattern will be released during the week leading up to the event. Fresh oil will be applied prior to each qualifying shift. Lanes will not be re-oiled prior to finals matches.

Bowlers paddock area – An area will be marked for bowling bags/equipment. All bowlers should store their equipment in this marked area while they are bowling and vacate once finished making room for the bowlers in the next shift.

All equipment must be taken home at the completion of that days event.

No more than 2 balls per bowler in the bowling area.

Qualifying/Match Play -
-
Lane assignments will be pre-assigned for all pre-registered bowlers. Walk in bowlers will be assigned lanes based on first come first serve basis. Maximum number of bowlers per lane - 3 bowlers.

10 minutes of warm up will be given prior to each qualifying shift. Please remember lane courtesy.
-
4 game qualifier - changing pairs after 2 games. Bowlers on the right lane will move right skipping one pair. Bowlers bowling on the left will move left skipping one pair.

Lane monitors will be available to assist with any scoring issues. Bowlers may NOT change scores for themselves or other bowlers. Scores changed by a bowler may result in a zero score for that frame.

Eliminator matches will be played based on the number of entries received in each division. Eliminators will be used to confirm bowlers advancing to Step Ladder finals.

2 ball warm up will be allowed on each lane.
-
Lane assignment will be completed based on qualifying results.
-
Highest scoring bowler will advance.
-

Step Ladder finals will begin after the completion of the Eliminators and will be one game, head to head with winner advancing.

Highest seeded bowler will have choice of starting lane. Note - bowler will finish (10th frame) on opposite lane selected.

Highest scoring bowler will advance.

Multiple winners will receive scholarship awards in both the Scratch and Handicap divisions based on number of entries.

Over $4000 in scholarship awards available based on full tournament enrollment.

Final payout will be determined by the number of entries in each division. Payout amounts will be available the day of the event. All tournament winnings will be applied to bowler's SMART account.
